Chhattisgarh Jewelry Association Marks Two Successful Years, Sets Ambitious Goals at State-Level Mega Convention

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh |The Chhattisgarh Jewelry Association has completed two remarkable years under the leadership of State President Kamal Soni, celebrating significant achievements in organization expansion, trader security, digital empowerment, awareness campaigns, and business development. As the association enters its third year, it has announced ambitious plans to strengthen the state’s jewelry industry and expand its organizational network.

During a state-level press conference held at the Bilaspur Press Club on Friday, the association showcased a special photo exhibition highlighting its major accomplishments over the past two years. The exhibition featured initiatives such as the Jewelry Public Outreach Campaign, Operation Gold, the proposed Gems & Jewellery Park, BIS Hallmark Awareness Programs, and several other organizational milestones.

Grand State-Level Jewelry Convention on June 28

The association will organize its Third General Assembly and State-Level Jewelry Convention on June 28, 2026, at Ramdev Lawn, near 36 Mall in Mangla, Bilaspur.

The event is expected to attract nearly 5,000 jewelry traders, representatives, and office-bearers from across Chhattisgarh, making it one of the largest gatherings of the state’s jewelry community. Previous annual conventions were successfully hosted in Jagdalpur and Janjgir, with Bilaspur now serving as the host city.

Historic Organizational Growth

According to Kamal Soni, the association had approximately 60 active units in January 2024. Through an extensive membership drive, the number increased to more than 91 units by June 2024 and has now grown to over 125 units across the state.

The association has now set a target of establishing 251 organizational units, ensuring that every jewelry trader in Chhattisgarh becomes part of a unified and influential platform.

Focus on Security and Consumer Awareness

Over the past two years, the association has conducted several consumer awareness campaigns, BIS Hallmark education programs, and training workshops aimed at strengthening trust between customers and jewelry businesses.

The association has urged consumers to purchase only BIS Hallmark-certified jewelry and to continue supporting trusted local jewelers.

Operation Gold Becomes a Model of Police-Trader Cooperation

One of the association’s most notable achievements has been its collaboration with Bilaspur Police through Operation Gold, which has become a successful example of law enforcement and business cooperation.

Following a robbery in the Sarkanda area, police arrested the accused within 24 hours, earning appreciation from the association.

The organization honored senior police officials, including Inspector General Ramgopal Garg, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police Pankaj Patel, CSP Nimitesh Singh, and the entire investigation team for their swift action in ensuring trader security.

Progress on the Gems & Jewellery Park

Another landmark achievement has been significant progress toward securing government approval for the proposed Gems & Jewellery Park in Raipur.

The association believes the project will transform Chhattisgarh’s jewelry industry by providing modern office spaces, business infrastructure, and community facilities, creating new opportunities for traders and artisans.

Key Agenda: Simplification of BNS Section 317

A major topic at the upcoming convention will be the simplification of Section 317 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Association leaders say the current legal provisions have created practical and legal challenges for jewelry traders. They plan to urge the government to introduce clearer, simpler, and more practical regulations.

Future Vision

Looking ahead, the association aims to:

  • Expand to 251 organizational units across the state.
  • Establish the proposed Gems & Jewellery Park.
  • Strengthen security measures for jewelry traders.
  • Advocate for simplification of BNS Section 317.
  • Promote the creation of a Goldsmith Welfare Board.
  • Continue protecting the business interests of jewelry traders.

President’s Statement

State President Kamal Soni said the past two years have been filled with major accomplishments, giving jewelry traders a stronger identity and greater unity.

He expressed confidence that the association’s third year would establish new benchmarks through organizational growth, improved trader security, and major infrastructure projects that will benefit the jewelry industry throughout Chhattisgarh.

Preparations for the June 28 State-Level Jewelry Convention are currently in their final stage, with state and district office-bearers actively coordinating arrangements to ensure the success of the large-scale event.
