Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh | The South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) Jamuna Kotma Area Rescue Team, in coordination with the local administration, conducted a swift rescue and recovery operation after a 14-year-old boy reportedly drowned in the Kewai River near the Bhalumada Pump House in Madhya Pradesh.
According to officials, the local administration sought immediate assistance from SECL after receiving reports that the teenager had gone missing in the river. Responding without delay, the SECL Rescue Team, along with local authorities and residents, launched an extensive search and rescue mission at the site.
Rescuers carried out operations in approximately 17 feet (5.2 meters) of water, demonstrating professional coordination and technical expertise. After an intensive search, the team successfully recovered the boy’s body from the river.
The body was subsequently transported to the Bhalumada SECL Hospital to complete the necessary legal and medical formalities.
The rescue operation was conducted under the guidance of General Manager Prabhakar Ram Tripathi of the Jamuna Kotma Area. The mission was led by Rescue Room In-Charge Amit Singh (RBM) and Mubarak Ali (RBM), whose efforts, together with the local administration and the SECL Rescue Team, ensured the operation was completed efficiently.
In an official statement, SECL expressed its deep condolences over the tragic loss of the young boy and extended its heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers of deep-water bodies and highlights the importance of rapid emergency response and public awareness regarding water safety.
