Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh |In a major step toward enhancing transparency, operational efficiency, and accountability in coal logistics, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has launched dedicated Truck Dispatch Monitoring Control Rooms at its major mining operations in Gevra, Dipka, Kusmunda, and Raigarh. The initiative has been introduced by SECL’s Vigilance Department under its Preventive Vigilance framework to ensure smoother and more transparent coal dispatch operations.
The newly established Control Rooms have been developed entirely in-house, showcasing SECL’s strong technical expertise, innovation, and inter-departmental collaboration. Equipped with real-time digital dashboards, the facilities provide continuous monitoring of truck movement, dispatch status, loading operations, and operational bottlenecks, enabling authorities to oversee the entire coal transportation process with greater accuracy and efficiency.
According to SECL, the initiative is designed not only to identify and prevent irregularities but also to introduce systemic improvements that eliminate unnecessary delays and improve transparency across the coal dispatch chain. Through real-time surveillance and analytics, officials can quickly detect potential bottlenecks, allowing timely corrective actions and better coordination among operational teams.
The company expects the new monitoring system to significantly reduce Truck Turnaround Time (TAT), improve vehicle movement, and enhance the overall coal dispatch and evacuation process. Faster movement of coal from mines to consumers will help strengthen supply chain efficiency while reducing operational delays.
Another key advantage of the system is its ability to support data-driven decision-making. By providing instant access to live operational data, the Control Rooms enable management to make informed decisions, improve resource utilization, and respond swiftly to operational challenges.
The initiative also reflects SECL’s commitment to implementing the principles of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC)’s Preventive Vigilance framework, which emphasizes transparency, accountability, risk prevention, and governance improvements rather than relying solely on corrective action after irregularities occur.
By integrating digital technology, real-time operational monitoring, and proactive vigilance practices, SECL is setting a new benchmark in the mining sector. The initiative is expected to strengthen public confidence, improve logistics management, and support the company’s ongoing efforts to modernize coal transportation through technology-enabled mining operations.
With this strategic initiative, SECL continues to reinforce its position as one of India’s leading coal producers by promoting efficient logistics, transparent governance, and sustainable operational excellence across its mining network.
