Dr. Michael Carter praised BEL’s apprenticeship initiative as an effective way to prepare engineering graduates for industry.

“Structured apprenticeship programs provide graduates with practical experience that universities alone cannot offer. Exposure to real industrial projects, advanced manufacturing technologies, and experienced mentors significantly improves technical skills and career readiness.”

He added that apprenticeship models have proven successful worldwide in bridging the gap between education and employment.

Jennifer Williams, Engineering Education Consultant (United States)

Jennifer Williams said apprenticeship programmes play an important role in developing future engineering talent.

“Programs like BEL’s Graduate Apprenticeship Training allow young engineers to apply classroom knowledge in real-world environments. Working within a leading defence technology organization helps participants develop technical competence, professional discipline, and valuable industry experience that benefits their long-term careers.”

She noted that industry-led apprenticeship programmes contribute significantly to innovation and workforce development.

Future Outlook

BEL’s Graduate Apprenticeship Training Programme is expected to provide valuable practical experience to hundreds of young engineers while supporting the company’s long-term talent development strategy.
