Chhattisgarh Government Orders CBI Probe into High-Profile Naugai Triple Murder Case

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Government has approved a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the high-profile Naugai Triple Murder Case in Korea district, responding to persistent demands from the victims’ families and growing public calls for an independent investigation.

The decision was announced through an official Home Department notification issued on June 30, 2026. With the state’s consent now granted, the CBI will take over the investigation into the sensational killings that shocked the region earlier this month.

Three Men Killed in Brutal Attack

The incident took place on the night of June 16, 2026, in the Naugai area of Korea district. According to officials, Bharat Singh, Nagendra Singh, and Virendra Singh were brutally murdered in an attack allegedly linked to a sand mining and sand trade dispute.

In addition to the three fatalities, two other individuals sustained serious injuries and continue to receive medical treatment.

The incident triggered widespread public outrage, with local residents and the victims’ families demanding a thorough investigation into not only those directly involved in the killings but also anyone who may have planned or supported the crime.

Victims’ Families Demanded an Independent Investigation

Following the murders, the victims’ families repeatedly called for the case to be handed over to an independent central investigative agency, arguing that only a neutral investigation could uncover the full truth behind the crime.

Family members said justice would only be served if every individual connected to the conspiracy was identified and prosecuted.

Political and Public Pressure Increased

The demand for a CBI investigation gained further momentum after Dr. Raj Shekhawat, National President of the Karni Sena, visited Baikunthpur and met the victims’ families.

Describing the killings as a serious criminal incident, he urged the government to ensure an impartial investigation and strict action against everyone responsible.

The case also drew the attention of Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma, who met with the victims’ families, listened to their concerns, and assured them that the government would ensure justice and take action against all those found guilty.

CBI Granted Jurisdiction

According to the official notification, the state government has granted consent under Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946, authorizing the CBI to investigate the case.

The agency will now assume responsibility for investigating Crime No. 65/2026 and Crime No. 66/2026, registered at Sonhat Police Station in Korea district.

The CBI will obtain the case diary, evidence, and related documents from the local police before conducting a fresh investigation. The central agency has also been granted jurisdiction across Chhattisgarh for matters connected to the case.

Second Major CBI Referral Under Sai Government

The Naugai Triple Murder Case is the second major case referred to the CBI since the Vishnu Deo Sai Government assumed office in December 2023.

Earlier, the state government had also recommended a CBI investigation into the alleged Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (PSC) recruitment scam, signaling its willingness to involve the central agency in high-profile and sensitive cases.

Focus Now on Uncovering the Truth

With the CBI now taking charge, attention has shifted to whether the agency can uncover the complete sequence of events behind the triple murder, identify any wider conspiracy, and establish the role of all individuals involved.

The victims’ families and local residents have expressed hope that an impartial investigation by the country’s premier investigative agency will ensure justice and lead to strict legal action against those responsible.
