Bilaspur Police Honors Two Retiring Officers, Pays Emotional Tribute to Officer with 42 Years of Distinguished Service


Bilaspur: The Bilaspur Range Police organized an emotional farewell ceremony to honor the retirement of Sub-Inspector Ramkumar Patel and Head Constable Virendra Kumar Shastri, recognizing their decades of dedicated service to the Chhattisgarh Police. The ceremony was held on June 30, 2026, at the Office of the Inspector General (IG) of Police, Bilaspur Range.

The event was attended by Inspector General (IG) Ram Gopal Garg, senior police officers, and staff members, who paid tribute to the retiring officers for their discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public service.

42 Years of Impeccable Service

Among the two retirees, Sub-Inspector Ramkumar Patel received special recognition for completing 42 years of unblemished police service. During his distinguished career, he earned more than 300 awards and commendations, while maintaining a completely clean disciplinary record, with no departmental punishment throughout his tenure.

Patel began his career in March 1984 as a Constable in Bilaspur district. He was promoted to Head Constable in 1997, Assistant Sub-Inspector in 2009, and Sub-Inspector in 2020.

Throughout his career, he served in several districts, including Janjgir, Kabirdham (Kawardha), and Korba. Since 2023, he had been serving as the Reader in the Inspector General’s Office at Bilaspur.

A Dedicated Career in Police Service

Head Constable Virendra Kumar Shastri also concluded a long and dedicated career with the police department.

He joined the force as a Police Driver on February 3, 1994, and was promoted to Head Constable in 2016. During his service, he worked in Mungeli and Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (GPM) districts before being posted to the Inspector General’s Office in 2021, where he handled important administrative responsibilities.

IG Ram Gopal Garg Praises Their Contribution

During the farewell ceremony, IG Ram Gopal Garg presented both retiring officers with traditional coconuts (Shreephal), bouquets, and commemorative mementos as a mark of respect.

In his address, the Inspector General praised both officers for setting exemplary standards of professionalism, honesty, and dedication throughout their careers.

He particularly highlighted Ramkumar Patel’s 42-year spotless service record and his achievement of receiving more than 300 awards, describing him as a source of inspiration for the entire police force.

Colleagues Share Emotional Memories

Several senior officers, including Deputy Superintendent of Police Vivek Sharma, Inspector Ashok Vaishnav, Inspector Sarita Tiwari, and Head Constable Om Prakash Mishra, shared their experiences of working with the retiring officers.

They praised their discipline, humility, professional ethics, and willingness to mentor junior personnel throughout their careers.

Heartfelt Farewell

Expressing their gratitude, Sub-Inspector Ramkumar Patel and Head Constable Virendra Kumar Shastri thanked IG Ram Gopal Garg and all their colleagues for the warm farewell.

Both officers reflected on their long careers, stating that the police department had always treated them like a family. They also expressed their willingness to continue supporting the department whenever needed, even after retirement.

As a final gesture of respect, IG Ram Gopal Garg arranged a special vehicle to escort both retired officers to their homes and wished them a healthy, peaceful, and fulfilling retired life.

The emotional ceremony concluded with applause and heartfelt good wishes from officers and staff members, marking the end of two distinguished careers in public service.
