Katghora to Deliver Anti-Drug Message to Youth from August 19

Two-Day Exhibition and Public Awareness Programme to be Held at Government Mukutdhar Pandey College under ‘Drug-Free Youth for Developed India – Sankalp Abhiyan’

Katghora/Korba : A two-day picture exhibition and public awareness programme on drug de-addiction will be organised at Government Mukutdhar Pandey College, Katghora, on August 19 and 20 under the ‘Drug-Free Youth for Developed India – Sankalp Abhiyan’. The programme is being organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.

The campaign aims to create awareness among students and young people about the harmful effects of intoxicating substances and encourage them to adopt a healthy and positive lifestyle. It also seeks to strengthen public participation in building a drug-free society and contribute to the vision of a developed India.

Public Representatives to Attend Inauguration

Katghora MLA Premchand Patel will be the Chief Guest at the programme. Raj Jaiswal, President of Katghora Municipal Council, will preside over the event, while Jhoolbai Kanwar, President of Janpad Panchayat Katghora, will attend as the Special Guest.

During the inauguration, the dignitaries will visit and review the picture exhibition, which will highlight various aspects of drug abuse and its consequences.

Exhibition to Highlight Physical and Social Consequences

The exhibition will use visual displays and informative pictures to explain the harmful impact of drug and substance abuse on an individual’s physical and mental health, as well as its effects on families and society.

Students and young people will be encouraged to stay away from intoxicating substances and engage in constructive activities such as education, sports, art, innovation and social service. The programme will emphasise that adopting a healthy lifestyle can play an important role in building a responsible and productive generation.

Competitions to Engage Students

Several awareness-based competitions will also be organised as part of the programme. These will include painting, rangoli, speech, essay writing and quiz competitions.

Through these activities, students will get an opportunity to express their views on drug de-addiction, healthy living, youth empowerment and nation-building. The competitions are expected to encourage greater participation among students while spreading the message of the importance of staying away from addiction.

Cultural Performances to Spread Awareness

A song and drama troupe will also present special cultural programmes focusing on the ill-effects of drug abuse and ways to prevent addiction. Through songs, drama and other cultural forms, the message of a drug-free life will be conveyed in an engaging and accessible manner.

Awareness Campaign Ahead of the Event

Prior to the main programme, publicity and awareness activities will be conducted in the area to inform students, youth and members of the general public about the event and its objectives.

The Central Bureau of Communication has appealed to students, teachers, parents and the general public to actively participate in the two-day programme and support the campaign for a drug-free society.

The campaign carries a clear message: a drug-free youth is the foundation of a healthy family, a strong society and a developed India. Through awareness, community participation and positive engagement of young people, the initiative seeks to encourage collective efforts towards creating a healthier, stronger and addiction-free future.
