SECL CVO Himanshu Jain Takes Additional Charge as Chief Vigilance Officer of MCL


New Delhi / Bilaspur, India |Himanshu Jain, currently serving as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of South Eastern Coalfields Limited, has assumed additional charge as CVO of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, further strengthening vigilance leadership within India’s coal sector.

A 2007-batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers, Jain brings extensive experience in governance, infrastructure, and administrative oversight. Alongside his current responsibilities at SECL, he has previously held additional charge as CVO of Northern Coalfields Limited, reflecting a consistent track record of trust in key vigilance roles across major public sector enterprises.

Jain holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from National Institute of Technology Raipur, where he graduated with a gold medal, and a Master of Technology (M.Tech) from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He entered the prestigious IRSSE cadre after securing an All India Rank 9 in the Engineering Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission in 2007.

During his tenure with Indian Railways, Jain successfully led several critical infrastructure and signaling projects. He has also held key administrative positions including Deputy General Manager (DGM), Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), and Secretary to the General Manager—roles that underscore his versatility across technical and managerial domains.

His contributions have been widely recognized with multiple prestigious honors, including the National Railway Award (2016), the Director General’s Medal from the National Academy of Indian Railways (2019), and the General Manager’s Award in both 2012 and 2022.

Jain is also known for championing transparency and digital transformation initiatives. His “DigiCOAL” initiative focuses on strengthening digital vigilance and monitoring systems within the coal sector. The initiative has been presented at a national workshop organized by the Central Vigilance Commission, highlighting its potential to enhance accountability and governance practices.

With his additional role at MCL, Jain is expected to further reinforce vigilance mechanisms, promote ethical practices, and advance digital oversight frameworks across coal mining operations under Coal India Limited.

This dual responsibility reflects both his professional credibility and the growing emphasis on robust vigilance systems in India’s public sector industries.
