New Delhi : NTPC Mining Limited (NML) has achieved a remarkable milestone in mine safety and operational excellence, with three of its coal mines receiving the prestigious 5-Star Rating in the Star Rating of Open Cast (OC) Coal Mines for FY 2024–25. The annual assessment is conducted by the Office of the Coal Controller (CCO) under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, to recognize outstanding safety standards and best mining practices across the country.
The three NTPC Mining Limited projects that earned the coveted 5-Star Rating are Pakri-Barwadih, Dulanga, and Talaipalli, reinforcing the company’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of workplace safety, sustainable mining, and operational efficiency.
Among all the 5-Star-rated coal mines in India, Pakri-Barwadih Mine once again emerged as the No. 1 ranked mine, successfully retaining the top position for the second consecutive year. Dulanga Mine secured the 5th position, while Talaipalli Mine ranked 8th in the national list, highlighting NTPC Mining’s consistent excellence across multiple operations.
The achievement is particularly significant for Pakri-Barwadih, which has now topped the national rankings for two consecutive years, demonstrating sustained excellence in implementing best-in-class safety protocols. Meanwhile, Dulanga Mine has continued its exceptional record by earning the 5-Star Rating for the sixth consecutive year, reflecting its long-standing commitment to safe and responsible mining practices.
The Star Rating of Coal Mines is an annual initiative designed to encourage continuous improvement in safety management, environmental stewardship, technological advancement, and sustainable mining practices across India’s coal and lignite mining sector. Mines are evaluated on multiple parameters, with a strong emphasis on creating a safe working environment while maintaining high operational standards.
