Ajay Verma Assumes Charge as Executive Director (VPHEP) at THDC India Limited


New Delhi : Ajay Verma has assumed charge as Executive Director (VPHEP) at THDC India Limited (THDCIL) effective May 1, 2026, marking a significant leadership elevation within the organization.

His promotion follows the recommendation of the Departmental Promotion Committee, elevating him from the position of Chief General Manager (E8) to Executive Director (E9).


Strong Technical and Academic Background

Mr. Verma is a seasoned civil engineering professional with a career spanning over three decades. He graduated from M S Ramaiah College of Engineering in 1988 and later earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Construction Management from Delhi Productivity Council in 1998.

He further enhanced his managerial expertise with a Post Graduate Certificate in Project Management from Indian Institute of Management Indore in 2015.


Over Three Decades at THDCIL

Mr. Verma joined THDC India Limited on July 30, 1990, as an Engineer (Trainee) and has since built a distinguished career across multiple critical functions.

Over the years, he has made significant contributions in areas such as rehabilitation, large-scale construction, corporate contracts, vigilance, and project planning. He also played key roles in major infrastructure works, including the spillway construction of the Tehri Dam and planning and quality control at the Koteshwar Dam.


Leadership in Major Power Projects

Mr. Verma successfully led the commissioning of the Dhukwan Small Hydro Electric Project (3×8 MW) in a timely manner during his tenure as Additional General Manager.

He later moved to the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (1320 MW), where he headed Contracts Management and oversaw the Ash Dyke Package, demonstrating strong project execution and management capabilities.

Since 2023, he has been serving as Head of Project for the 444 MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project (VPHEP). Under his leadership, the project has made significant progress despite complex social, geological, and technical challenges.


Experience and Leadership Approach

With over 38 years of post-graduation experience, Mr. Verma is widely recognized for his expertise in infrastructure development and hydroelectric project execution. His leadership has been characterized by effective decision-making, strong technical oversight, and the ability to manage large, complex projects.


Strategic Importance

His elevation to Executive Director (VPHEP) is expected to further accelerate the development of key hydroelectric projects, reinforcing THDC India Limited’s role in India’s renewable energy and power generation sector.
