Hyderabad, India |: Vector Technics, a subsidiary of Zen Technologies Ltd., has achieved a major milestone by expanding its annual manufacturing capacity to 300,000 drone propulsion units, making it India’s largest fully integrated drone propulsion manufacturer. The expansion marks a significant step toward strengthening India’s indigenous drone manufacturing ecosystem and reducing dependence on imported components for critical aerospace and defense technologies.
The company announced that its 26,000-square-foot integrated manufacturing facility in Shamshabad, Hyderabad, now designs, develops, and manufactures every major component of a drone propulsion system under one roof. This integrated approach enables complete control over production quality, technology development, and supply chain security.
Complete Indigenous Manufacturing Under One Roof
According to the company, the Hyderabad facility manufactures a comprehensive range of drone propulsion components, including:
- Electric motors
- Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs)
- Carbon-fiber propellers
- Power electronics
- Power distribution systems
- Starter-generators
- Internal Combustion (IC) UAV engines
Unlike many manufacturers that rely on imported technologies, Vector Technics stated that all critical components are designed, engineered, and manufactured entirely in India, without the use of Chinese components or imported firmware. This approach provides customers with a secure, reliable, and self-reliant supply chain, particularly for defense and strategic applications.
Strengthening India’s Self-Reliance in Drone Technology
The company noted that many drone manufacturers operating in India continue to depend on imported propulsion components. In contrast, Vector Technics has invested heavily in developing its own motors, embedded firmware, power electronics, carbon-fiber propellers, and UAV engines, significantly enhancing India’s technological independence in the rapidly growing drone sector.
This indigenous manufacturing capability aligns with the country’s broader objective of promoting self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat) in advanced defense and aerospace technologies.
Products Already Supporting Defense Programs
Vector Technics confirmed that its propulsion systems are already being deployed in several Indian defense programs. To maintain the highest standards of reliability and performance, every propulsion unit undergoes rigorous quality testing using three NABL-accredited thrust testing systems before delivery.
The company’s extensive product portfolio includes:
- BLDC electric motors for FPV drones
- Tactical surveillance drones
- Heavy-lift cargo drones
- Fixed-wing unmanned aircraft
- VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) platforms
- 60cc, 170cc, and 210cc Internal Combustion (IC) engines
- Starter-generators
- Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs)
- Carbon-fiber propellers
- Power distribution systems
CEO Highlights Seven Years of Indigenous Innovation
Commenting on the achievement, Prudhvi Raj Pakalapati, Co-Founder and CEO of Vector Technics, said the company has spent the past seven years building indigenous drone propulsion technology rather than relying on imported solutions.
He emphasized that the company’s long-term strategy has focused on developing its own engineering expertise, manufacturing infrastructure, and proprietary technologies entirely within India, helping establish a robust domestic capability in advanced drone propulsion systems.
Serving Global Markets
Today, Vector Technics supplies propulsion solutions to more than 300 customers across over 10 countries, reflecting the growing international demand for its high-performance drone technologies.
Operating from its integrated manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, the company continues to expand its global footprint while supporting India’s ambitions to become a major hub for advanced unmanned aerial systems.
Expansion to Boost India’s Drone Ecosystem
According to Zen Technologies Ltd., the expansion will significantly strengthen India’s drone manufacturing ecosystem by providing locally developed, high-quality propulsion systems for a wide range of applications, including:
- Defense and homeland security
- Border surveillance
- Agriculture and precision farming
- Industrial inspection
- Logistics and cargo transportation
- Emergency response and disaster management
With its expanded production capacity, fully indigenous technology, and vertically integrated manufacturing model, Vector Technics is positioning itself as a key contributor to India’s rapidly growing drone industry, supporting both domestic and international demand for secure, reliable, and locally manufactured propulsion systems.
