RCB Clinch Second Consecutive IPL Title, Join Elite List of Back-to-Back Champions

AHMEDABAD : Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) etched their name deeper into Indian Premier League (IPL) history by securing their second consecutive championship, defeating the Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in the IPL 2026 Final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

With the victory, RCB became only the third franchise in IPL history to win back-to-back titles, joining the elite ranks of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI).

After winning the toss and opting to field, RCB delivered a disciplined bowling performance to restrict Gujarat Titans to 155/8 in 20 overs. The Bengaluru bowlers maintained tight lines and applied consistent pressure throughout the innings, preventing GT from building significant partnerships or accelerating during the crucial death overs.

Chasing a target of 156, RCB approached the run chase with confidence and composure. Their batting unit produced a measured performance, successfully reaching the target in just 18 overs with five wickets in hand. The victory capped off another dominant season for the franchise, showcasing their balance, consistency, and ability to perform under pressure.

The triumph marks a historic milestone for RCB, a team that had long sought its first IPL title before breaking through in recent seasons. By defending their crown successfully, the franchise has now established itself as one of the league’s modern powerhouses.

The win sparked celebrations among players and fans alike, as RCB completed a memorable campaign and further strengthened its legacy in the world’s most popular T20 cricket league.

With consecutive championships now secured, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have firmly cemented their place among the IPL’s most successful and dominant franchises, setting a new benchmark for sustained excellence in the tournament.
