Chinsurah, Hooghly:
In a major boost to the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, a grand “Synergy and Business Conclave” was organized at Rabindranath Bhavan in Chinsurah. The event brought together entrepreneurs from Hooghly, Kolkata, and South 24-Parganas, along with key representatives from government departments and financial institutions.
The conclave aimed to strengthen entrepreneurship by creating a direct interface between MSME entrepreneurs, government authorities, and financial bodies — enabling participants to voice their concerns, seek customized solutions, and explore investment and export opportunities.
Focus on Creating an Industry-Friendly Ecosystem
The event was graced by Ministers Becharam Manna, Chandranath Singh, and Bankim Chandra Hazra, along with District President Ranjan Dhara, District Magistrate Khurshid Ali Quader, and several dignitaries.
Speakers emphasized that such conclaves play a crucial role in defining a roadmap for industrial growth, encouraging new investments, and generating employment at the local level.
Minister’s Statement: “Industrial Growth in Hooghly is Encouraging and Satisfactory”
Minister Becharam Manna described the industrial development in Hooghly district as “very satisfactory and encouraging.”
He pointed out that a large number of small and medium industries have come up along both sides of the Delhi Highway, Durgapur Express Road, Allahabad Road, Tarakeswar Road, Dhaniakhali Road, and other major routes.
“Our objective is to identify, resolve, and expedite all initial processes related to setting up industries — including issues concerning land and land reforms, rehabilitation, labour, environment, power, fire services, and other essential departments,”
said Minister Manna.
27 Bighas of Land Allocated in Singur for Industrial Use
Highlighting the government’s proactive initiatives, Minister Manna announced that in the initial phase, 27 bighas of land have already been allotted in Singur for industrial purposes.
He further stated that more such land parcels will be identified soon to facilitate the establishment of new industrial units, thereby accelerating the region’s economic growth.
Entrepreneurs Applaud Government Initiative
Entrepreneurs attending the conclave lauded the government’s efforts to provide such an interactive platform, noting that it helps improve coordination between industries and government departments. They expressed optimism that this initiative would attract more investment and create new business opportunities across the district.
District officials assured that more such conclaves will be organized in the future to ensure that industrial challenges are addressed locally, while also strengthening the Ease of Doing Business framework in West Bengal.
Conclusion
The industrial momentum in Hooghly marks a promising chapter for West Bengal’s MSME sector. With the government’s focused approach, increasing investment opportunities, and improved infrastructure, the district is steadily emerging as a new hub for small and medium enterprises — driving economic growth and generating employment for thousands.
