Acting Commissioner’s Surprise Inspection Finds Seven Absent Employees at Dhamtari Municipal Corporation, Show-Cause Notices Issued

Dhamtari, India — In a surprise inspection conducted on Friday, Acting Municipal Commissioner P.C. Sarva visited various departments of the Dhamtari Municipal Corporation without prior notice to assess employee attendance, administrative efficiency, and the quality of public services.

During the inspection, seven employees were found absent from duty, including two clerks, one office attendant, and four placement engineers. According to the preliminary review, none of the absent employees had an approved leave request or a valid explanation recorded at the time of the inspection.

Calling the matter a serious breach of discipline, P.C. Sarva directed officials to issue show-cause notices to all seven employees. He further stated that disciplinary action would be taken in accordance with government rules if their responses are found to be unsatisfactory.

The Acting Commissioner personally visited multiple branches of the municipal office, verified the attendance registers, and reviewed the status of pending public service requests. He instructed department heads to ensure that citizens receive timely services and are not subjected to unnecessary delays or inconvenience.

Speaking during the inspection, P.C. Sarva emphasized that punctuality, discipline, and accountability must remain the highest priorities in government offices.

“Government employees are public servants. They must perform their duties with responsibility, integrity, and transparency. Unauthorized absence from the workplace not only disrupts administrative operations but also causes unnecessary hardship for citizens,” he said.

In addition to reviewing attendance, the Acting Commissioner also inspected the cleanliness of the office, the functioning of different departments, and the overall work environment. He instructed officials to continuously improve administrative systems and conduct regular monitoring of departmental performance.

He reiterated that negligence, delays, or any form of carelessness in handling public services would not be tolerated, stressing that every employee must remain accountable while delivering efficient and citizen-focused governance.
