Shipping Corporation of India Opens Recruitment for Secretarial Officers; Salary Up to ₹80,000 Per Month


New Delhi, India: Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI), one of India’s largest government-owned maritime transport companies, has announced a new recruitment drive for Company Secretary professionals on a contract basis for its corporate office in Mumbai.

The Navratna public sector enterprise is inviting applications for the posts of Senior Secretarial Officer and Secretarial Officer, offering consolidated monthly salaries of up to ₹80,000.

According to the official notification, the deadline for submitting applications is May 20, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

Vacancy Details and Salary Structure

SCI has announced a total of four vacancies under the recruitment process.

The positions include:

  • Two posts for Senior Secretarial Officer with a monthly consolidated salary of ₹80,000
  • Two posts for Secretarial Officer with a monthly consolidated salary of ₹60,000

The company clarified that the compensation package includes Provident Fund contributions and that no additional allowances or perks will be provided.

Eligibility Criteria

For the Senior Secretarial Officer position, applicants must:

  • Be qualified Company Secretaries certified by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI)
  • Have at least two years of post-qualification experience
  • Preferably possess experience in a listed company

The upper age limit for the position is 34 years, with candidates required to be born on or after April 1, 1992.

For the Secretarial Officer role:

  • Candidates must hold Company Secretary qualification from ICSI
  • Fresh graduates and newly qualified professionals are eligible to apply

The upper age limit for this role is 32 years, with applicants required to be born on or after April 1, 1994.

Key Responsibilities

Selected candidates will be involved in corporate governance and regulatory compliance functions associated with a listed public sector company.

Responsibilities are expected to include:

  • Managing Board and committee meetings
  • Preparing agendas and meeting minutes
  • Handling compliance under the Companies Act and SEBI regulations
  • Monitoring insider trading and listing compliance requirements
  • Coordinating with stock exchanges and investors
  • Assisting with annual reports, Annual General Meetings (AGMs), and secretarial audits
  • Managing dividend-related documentation and Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF) matters

Officials said the roles provide significant exposure to listed company governance practices and PSU regulatory operations.

Contract Terms and Work Conditions

The appointments will initially be made for a period of two years. The contract may be extended twice for six months each, depending on organizational requirements and performance.

Other employment conditions include:

  • Work location based in Mumbai, with transfer liability anywhere in India
  • Flexible office timing structure of 7 hours and 45 minutes from Monday to Friday
  • Thirty days of leave annually

SCI clarified that accommodation, transport, and medical benefits will not be provided under the contract arrangement. However, employees will be covered under workplace accident group insurance.

Selection Process

Candidates will be shortlisted based on:

  • Academic performance
  • Professional experience
  • Interview performance

In case of ties in final merit rankings, age and marks criteria may be used for determining selection order.

The company said interview schedules and related updates will be published on SCI’s official website.
