New Delhi, India: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has launched a major recruitment drive for more than 45 Group “A” and Group “B” Gazetted posts across multiple central government departments and institutions, offering opportunities in administration, engineering, education, research, translation, mining, and defense-related services.
The vacancies were announced under Advertisement No. 04/2026, with online applications officially opening on May 9, 2026. Interested candidates can apply through the UPSC Online Recruitment Application portal until May 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. local time.

The recruitment campaign includes vacancies in several key sectors, including the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), engineering institutions, language services, mining departments, and the Union Territory administration of Ladakh.

- Assistant Library & Information Officer (Kannada)
- Associate Professor (Civil/Structural Engineering)
- Assistant Professors in multiple engineering disciplines
- Translator (Chinese and Tibetan languages)

- Assistant Research Officer
- Accounts Officer for the Union Territory of Ladakh
Officials said the recruitment aims to strengthen staffing in technical, academic, administrative, and strategic government functions.

Among the largest openings are 29 positions for Senior Administrative Officer in DRDO establishments. The positions are distributed across multiple reservation categories, including General, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS.
Other notable openings include:
- Four Assistant Mining Engineer positions
- Three Accounts Officer posts for Ladakh
- Teaching faculty positions in engineering disciplines
- Specialized translator roles for Chinese and Tibetan languages
The positions are based in locations including New Delhi, Pune, Nagpur, Ladakh, and other locations across India.
Eligibility and Qualification Requirements
Educational qualifications vary according to the role.
For the DRDO Senior Administrative Officer position, applicants must possess:
- A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
- At least three years of experience in administration, establishment, or accounts-related work
For Assistant Mining Engineer posts:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
- Two years of professional mining experience
For Accounts Officer positions in Ladakh:
- A bachelor’s degree
- Mandatory domicile certificate for Ladakh
Candidates applying for Translator posts must possess expertise in Chinese or Tibetan languages along with English proficiency or translation qualifications.
Teaching positions require engineering degrees in relevant disciplines, while Associate Professor roles additionally require a Ph.D.
Salary and Age Limits
The advertised positions fall under various Central Government pay levels ranging from Level 7 to Level 13A1 under the Seventh Pay Commission structure.
Age limits vary depending on the position and category, generally ranging between 30 and 45 years.
Selection Process
UPSC stated that candidates will be shortlisted based on qualifications and experience. Depending on the number of applications received, the commission may conduct a Recruitment Test before interviews.
The final selection process is expected to include:

Application Fees and Exemptions
The application fee has been fixed at ₹25 for male candidates belonging to General, OBC, and EWS categories.
However, the following categories are exempted from payment:
- Women candidates
- SC candidates
- ST candidates
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
