Dubai: The United States and Israel have launched coordinated airstrikes on Iran, triggering loud explosions across the capital Tehran and sharply escalating tensions in the Middle East.
According to multiple media reports, missiles were fired at nearly 30 strategic locations inside Iran. Shortly after the strikes began, Israel announced the closure of its airspace to civilian aircraft, citing security concerns. Iran also reportedly shut down its airspace in response.
Israel Calls Attack a “Preventive Strike”
Israel’s defense minister confirmed the operation, describing it as a “preventive missile strike” aimed at neutralizing threats from Iran. Air raid sirens were activated across Israel, and residents received emergency alerts instructing them to remain close to shelters.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the alerts were issued as a precaution against potential missile retaliation from Iran. The country’s Home Front Command downgraded national activity levels, suspending schools, public gatherings, and non-essential work.
U.S. Confirms “Major Combat Operations”
U.S. President Donald Trump issued his first public statement following the strikes, confirming that “major combat operations” had begun. He said the primary objective was to eliminate threats originating from Iran, amid rising tensions over Tehran’s nuclear program.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Moved to Safe Location
Iranian media reported that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was not in Tehran at the time of the attacks and had been relocated to a secure location. While Tehran has not released an official statement, reports quoted Iranian officials as warning that the conflict was initiated by its adversaries and would be concluded by Iran.
Social media footage circulating online shows thick plumes of smoke rising over parts of Tehran following the explosions. However, Iranian authorities have yet to confirm the extent of damage or casualties.
Advisory Issued for Indian Nationals in Israel
The Indian Embassy in Israel issued a safety advisory urging all Indian citizens to remain vigilant, follow instructions issued by Israeli authorities, and strictly adhere to Home Front Command safety guidelines.
As of now, the situation remains highly volatile, with the international community closely monitoring developments amid fears of a wider regional conflict.
