Mumbai : Praveer Kumar Srivastava has officially taken over as the Managing Director of Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), effective April 30, 2026, marking a key leadership transition at one of India’s leading city gas distribution companies.
Extensive Industry Experience
Mr. Srivastava brings more than three decades of diverse experience from GAIL India Limited (GAIL), where he held several senior leadership roles spanning operations, strategy, and business development.
Throughout his career, he has played a critical role in the operations and maintenance of gas processing plants and pipeline infrastructure, along with the execution of large-scale energy projects across major GAIL installations. At the corporate level, he contributed significantly to strategic planning, advocacy, and organizational transformation initiatives.
Notably, he was closely associated with shaping GAIL’s long-term Strategy 2030, advancing sustainability goals, and strengthening the company’s Net Zero Action roadmap.
Leadership in Clean Energy Initiatives
Mr. Srivastava has been at the forefront of several landmark clean energy projects in India. His contributions include:
- Development of one of India’s largest Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) green hydrogen plants at Vijaipur
- Commissioning of India’s first hydrogen blending pilot project
- Launch of GAIL’s first small-scale LNG project
These initiatives have been instrumental in supporting India’s transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy ecosystem.
Key Role in Western Region Operations
Prior to joining MGL, Mr. Srivastava served as Executive Director (Western Region) at GAIL, where he led operations and marketing across a strategically vital pipeline network.
This network connects major LNG terminals such as Dahej and Dabhol with downstream infrastructure and industrial hubs. Under his leadership, the system ensured uninterrupted gas supply to power plants, fertilizer units, chemical industries, city gas distribution companies, and a wide base of industrial consumers across Western India.
He also oversaw marketing operations for petrochemicals and liquid hydrocarbons, further strengthening GAIL’s commercial footprint in the region.
