He also assured the Indian Prime Minister that the Qatari government is providing all necessary support to the injured and is closely monitoring the situation.
Responding to the gesture, Prime Minister Modi thanked the Amir for his compassion and support. In a statement shared after the call, PM Modi said, “We both share the grief of the families who have lost their loved ones and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
The Ras Laffan LNG Complex, one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, witnessed a devastating explosion that resulted in multiple casualties. The incident has raised concerns about industrial safety and the welfare of foreign workers employed in the energy sector.
The Government of India is working in close coordination with the Indian Embassy in Qatar and Qatari authorities to provide assistance to the affected families, facilitate medical care for the injured, and ensure the timely repatriation of the victims’ mortal remains.
The tragedy has drawn condolences from leaders and officials across both nations, highlighting the strong bilateral relationship between India and Qatar. The two countries continue to cooperate closely in matters concerning the safety and well-being of the large Indian expatriate community living and working in Qatar.
An investigation into the cause of the explosion is currently underway, and authorities are expected to release further details once the inquiry is completed.
