GANDHINAGAR: A 17-year-old college student died in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district after allegedly being sexually assaulted at a guest house, with police registering a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to police, the student, who was around 17 years and 10 months old, was studying at a college in Gandhinagar and travelled daily from her village in Kalol taluka. After college, she was reportedly on her way to a relative’s home in Ahmedabad when an acquaintance allegedly took her to a guest house in the Pethapur police station area.

The girl reportedly suffered severe bleeding following the alleged assault. She was initially taken to a private hospital in Randheja and was subsequently shifted to hospitals in Raisan and Kudasan as her condition deteriorated.

Police said the accused allegedly fled while the girl was undergoing treatment. Her family was later informed about the incident by the accused’s father. The family shifted her to another private hospital in Sector 6, where she died during treatment on Saturday night.

According to the report, the girl’s death was linked to kidney and intestinal complications following the incident. A complaint has been registered at Pethapur police station, and further investigation is underway.
