IRCON International Appoints IRSSE Officer Ravi Chaudhary as General Manager (S&T) on Deputation

New Delhi  The Ministry of Railways has approved the deputation of Shri Ravi Chaudhary, a senior officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE), to IRCON International Limited as General Manager (Signalling & Telecommunications) in Guwahati for a tenure of three years.

According to an official order issued by the Railway Board, the deputation will remain effective for three years from the date of his relief — October 3, 2025 (afternoon) — or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The appointment is subject to the exemption granted to IRCON from the rule of immediate absorption.

Shri Ravi Chaudhary belongs to the 2010 batch of the IRSSE cadre and was previously serving as Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunication Engineer at Alipurduar Junction railway station under the Northeast Frontier Railway zone. His appointment is expected to strengthen IRCON’s signalling and telecom operations, particularly in strategically important railway infrastructure projects in the northeastern region.

Pay and Service Conditions

As per the Railway Board order, Chaudhary will continue to draw salary and allowances in accordance with the pay structure applicable to his parent railway cadre. In addition, he will receive deputation allowance under the existing Government of India norms.

The order further clarified that his pay during the deputation period will be regulated in accordance with guidelines issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), including amendments issued from time to time. Any special pay previously drawn in the railway cadre will not be considered for pay fixation during the deputation assignment.

Administrative and Financial Oversight

The Ministry stated that all remaining terms and conditions of deputation will be governed under the annexure attached to the official order. Administrative matters including travelling allowance, leave benefits, medical facilities, retirement benefits, and group insurance will be handled by the Principal Financial Adviser of the Northeast Frontier Railway.

The deputation proposal received clearance from the competent authority and was vetted by the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways before issuance of the final order.

Strengthening Railway Infrastructure Expertise

The appointment reflects continued coordination between Indian Railways and public sector infrastructure companies for deployment of experienced technical officers in major rail connectivity and modernization projects. With extensive experience in signalling and telecommunications, Ravi Chaudhary is expected to contribute significantly to IRCON’s ongoing and upcoming railway infrastructure initiatives in the Northeast and other strategic regions of India.
