Film Body Demands FIR Against Sanjay Leela Bhansali After Worker’s Death on ‘Love & War’ Set

Mumbai, India: The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has called for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali following the tragic death of a worker on the set of his upcoming film Love & War.

According to AICWA, 42-year-old carpenter Chandradhari Singh Yadav lost his life while working on the film’s set. The workers’ body has raised serious concerns about workplace safety, alleged negligence, and accountability in the Indian film industry.

In a letter addressed to Devendra Fadnavis, the association demanded that the Maharashtra Government immediately register an FIR against Sanjay Leela Bhansali and those responsible for the production’s safety management. The organization also called for a high-level independent investigation into the incident.

AICWA urged authorities to examine whether the circumstances surrounding the worker’s death warrant charges under provisions related to murder, culpable homicide, or criminal negligence, depending on the findings of the investigation.

The association further alleged that the incident highlights broader concerns over unsafe working conditions on film sets and emphasized the need for stricter enforcement of occupational safety standards to protect crew members and daily wage workers.

As of now, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the makers of Love & War have not publicly responded to AICWA’s demands. Officials are expected to review the complaint before deciding on any legal action.

The tragic incident has reignited discussions within the entertainment industry about worker safety, production accountability, and the need for stronger regulations to prevent similar accidents in the future. Authorities are expected to investigate the matter, and any determination of criminal liability will depend on the outcome of the official inquiry.
