New Police Station Building Inaugurated in Kohkameta, Marking a New Chapter of Development in Abujhmad

Narayanpur  — In a significant step toward strengthening security, governance, and development in the remote Abujhmad region of Chhattisgarh, a newly constructed modern police station building was inaugurated in Kohkameta on Sunday.

The inauguration was led by Chhattisgarh Cabinet Minister Kedar Kashyap and was attended by Rupsay Salam, Chairman of the State Minor Forest Produce Federation, District Panchayat President Narayan Markam, elected representatives, senior administrative and police officials, and a large gathering of local residents.

The new facility represents a major milestone in the transformation of Abujhmad, a region that was once known primarily for its difficult terrain, administrative challenges, and the influence of Left-Wing Extremism. Today, the area is increasingly emerging as a symbol of peace, development, and public confidence.

The history of Kohkameta Police Station spans more than four decades. A police outpost was first established in the area in 1980, and it was upgraded to a full-fledged police station in 1984. However, due to the region’s challenging geography and the rise of insurgent activities, Kohkameta became one of the most difficult areas for administrative outreach.

Following the formation of Chhattisgarh State, sustained efforts by the government and law enforcement agencies helped strengthen their presence in the region. In 2018, a Police Public Service Center was established, and on January 1, 2020, operations at Kohkameta Police Station were formally resumed, significantly improving both security arrangements and community trust.

Speaking at the event, Minister Kedar Kashyap said that Abujhmad is rapidly integrating into the mainstream of development and that the new police station building will further enhance public safety, good governance, and citizen services in the region.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Robinson Gudiya described the facility as an important center for strengthening coordination between the police and local communities, helping to foster greater cooperation and confidence.

More than just a physical structure, the new Kohkameta Police Station stands as a symbol of a changing Abujhmad—one that is steadily moving toward a future defined by development, stability, and inclusive growth.
