FARNBOROUGH / BENGALURU, : In a major boost to India’s aerospace manufacturing sector and the global civil aviation supply chain, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Safran Aircraft Engines have signed a long-term manufacturing and supply agreement for superalloy turbine ring forgings used in the globally renowned CFM LEAP aircraft engine program.
The agreement was formally signed during the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, one of the world’s largest aerospace exhibitions, marking another significant milestone in the long-standing partnership between the two aerospace leaders.
The contract was signed by Mr. Praveen B, General Manager, Foundry & Forge Division, HAL, and Mr. Dominique Dupuy, Senior Vice President – Purchasing, Safran Aircraft Engines, in the presence of Mr. Ravi K, Chairman & Managing Director, HAL, and Mr. Jayakrishnan S, CEO (Bangalore Complex), HAL.
HAL to Produce Advanced Turbine Ring Forgings
Under the agreement, HAL will manufacture near-net shape turbine ring forgings using advanced superalloy materials at its state-of-the-art Ring Rolling Facility located within the Foundry & Forge Division in Bengaluru.
These highly specialized superalloy turbine rings are designed for the high-temperature rotating section of the CFM LEAP aircraft engine, where they play a critical role in engine efficiency, durability, reliability, and overall flight safety.
The production of these sophisticated aerospace components further strengthens HAL’s reputation as a trusted supplier of high-precision aero-engine parts for international aviation programs.
Boost for India’s Global Aerospace Presence
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Mr. Ravi K, Chairman & Managing Director of HAL, emphasized that the agreement highlights the growing confidence of international aerospace manufacturers in HAL’s engineering capabilities.

He added that participation in the CFM LEAP engine program significantly expands HAL’s presence in the international civil aerospace market while demonstrating its ability to manufacture complex aero-engine components that meet the highest global quality standards.
According to him, the collaboration is not only an important commercial opportunity but also a strategic step toward developing advanced manufacturing technologies, enhancing India’s aerospace capabilities, and supporting future next-generation aero-engine programs.
Safran Reaffirms Commitment to Localized Supply Chain
Mr. Dominique Dupuy, Senior Vice President – Purchasing, Safran Aircraft Engines, expressed enthusiasm over expanding cooperation with HAL.
“We are very enthusiastic about continuing this partnership with HAL. This cooperation is fully aligned with our strategy to develop a supply chain that is as locally integrated, as we ramp up LEAP engine production to meet growing demand.”
