CSPGCL’s Gare Pelma Sector-III Coal Mine Earns Prestigious Five-Star Rating from Ministry of Coal

Raipur, Chhattisgarh | In a significant achievement for Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL), its Gare Pelma Sector-III Coal Mine has been awarded the prestigious Five-Star Rating by the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, recognizing its outstanding performance in mining operations, safety, environmental management, and sustainable development.

The mine secured an impressive 92% score in the Star Rating Evaluation for the Financial Year 2024–25, placing it among the country’s best-performing coal mines.

Ranks Among India’s Top Open-Cast Coal Mines

According to the official ranking released by the Ministry of Coal, Gare Pelma Sector-III secured the 20th position among 206 open-cast coal mines evaluated across India.

The mine also emerged as the highest-performing mine in the Gare Pelma Coalfield, highlighting CSPGCL’s commitment to operational excellence and responsible mining practices.

Sanjeev Kumar Katiyar, Managing Director of CSPGCL, noted that this is not the first national recognition for the Gare Pelma Sector-III Coal Mine.

He highlighted that the mine had previously received seven national awards during the Annual Coal Mine Safety Fortnight 2025, organized by the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

He also stated that the mine has consistently received the First Prize for Mine Safety Performance over the past five consecutive years, reflecting its strong commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards.
