UIDAI to Launch New Aadhaar App on January 28, Enabling At-Home Updates for Mobile Number and Address

Hyderabad: India’s Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is set to launch the full and updated version of its new Aadhaar mobile application on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, according to an official announcement shared on social media.

With the launch, all features of the New Aadhaar App will be unlocked for users, allowing citizens to update their registered mobile number and residential address directly from home, eliminating the need to visit Aadhaar enrollment centers.

Digital Convenience and Enhanced Privacy

UIDAI said the app has been designed with a strong focus on user privacy and data security. In a social media post, the authority emphasized that identity verification should be limited to necessity, stating that access to services—such as entry to events—should not require excessive data sharing.

The new app allows users to digitally display their Aadhaar identity on their smartphones, reducing the need to carry physical Aadhaar cards or photocopies. Users can also mask or hide sensitive personal details while sharing their Aadhaar information.

Login via Registered Mobile Number

Once installed, users will log in to the New Aadhaar App using their registered mobile number. After authentication, they can view their Aadhaar details and securely share them when required. The app provides flexible sharing options, ensuring that only essential information is visible.

At-Home Updates for Mobile Number and Address

One of the most significant features of the app is the ability to update Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers and residential addresses remotely. Users can submit update requests directly through the app by uploading the required supporting documents, making the process faster and more convenient.

Available on Android and iOS

The New Aadhaar App will be available for both Android and iOS users, expanding access across platforms. UIDAI said the rollout marks a major step toward improving digital governance and making identity services more user-friendly.

The launch is expected to benefit millions of Aadhaar holders by simplifying identity management while strengthening privacy protections in an increasingly digital ecosystem.
