Poetry evening blends humour, satire, songs and patriotic verse at SECL headquarters in Bilaspur
Bilaspur : An All-India Kavi Sammelan was organised at the auditorium of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) headquarters on September 25 as part of Rajbhasha Pakhwada 2026.
The literary evening, organised under the guidance of SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan, brought together acclaimed poets from different parts of the country, who entertained the audience with a diverse mix of humour, satire, songs, romantic poetry and Veer Ras (heroic verse).
The event witnessed the presence of SECL’s senior management, employee representatives and a large number of officers and employees.
Senior SECL Officials Attend
Among those present at the programme were Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das, Director (Finance) D. Sunil Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain, Director (Technical–Operations) Ramesh Chandra Mahapatra, and Director (Technical–Planning & Projects, Additional Charge) Nripendra Nath.
Vice Presidents of Shraddha Mahila Mandal, Ipsita Das and Vinita Jain, were also present.
Representatives from the SECL Operating Committee, SECL Welfare Board, SECL Safety Committee, CMOAI, SISTA, OBC representatives and various trade unions, along with heads of departments, officers and employees, attended the literary programme.
The event began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp and floral tribute before an image of Goddess Saraswati.
Hindi Language and Literature Highlighted
Welcoming the participating poets, Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das said that the Kavi Sammelan organised during Rajbhasha Pakhwada was an important initiative to promote the Hindi language and literature.
He noted that poets play an important role in society by communicating ideas, encouraging positive thinking and conveying meaningful messages through their creative work.
Acclaimed Poets Present a Variety of Performances
The participating poets kept the audience engaged late into the evening with performances covering a wide range of literary forms and emotions.
Renowned poet and lyricist Dr Sarita Sharma presented emotionally rich songs centred on life, relationships and human emotions.
Humour poet and folk singer Jagveer Rathi brought a lively folk flavour to the programme, drawing laughter from the audience with his humorous presentation style.
Senior humour and satire poet Sudeep Bhola presented witty satirical compositions that offered light-hearted commentary on various social situations.
Veer Ras and Patriotic Poetry Add Energy
Well-known Veer Ras poet Ashok Charan energised the gathering with powerful and spirited poetry. His performance added an energetic and patriotic dimension to the evening.
Young poet and lyricist Swayam Srivastava touched the audience with sensitive, lyrical compositions, while popular humour and satire poet Shambhu Shikhar entertained the gathering with his distinctive stage presence and comic presentation.
Poet Dr Tishya Shri, known for her poetry centred on romance and Shringar Ras, added a softer and more lyrical dimension to the programme.
Young humour poet and satirist Hiraman Vaishnav also won appreciation from the audience with his distinctive comic style.
Auditorium Resonates with Applause
The evening brought together several shades of Hindi poetry, including humour, satire, songs, romance and Veer Ras.
The auditorium repeatedly echoed with applause as the poets presented their compositions, while the audience responded enthusiastically to the varied performances.
The Kavi Sammelan formed an important part of SECL’s Rajbhasha Pakhwada 2026 activities, providing employees and guests an opportunity to engage with Hindi literature and enjoy a diverse evening of poetry and cultural expression.
