Tata Power Mundra Plant Section 11 Directions Extended Till December 31, 2026

Ministry of Power extends directions for Tata Power’s Mundra Thermal Plant by another three months

Mumbai : The Tata Power Company Limited has informed the stock exchanges that the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has further extended the validity of directions issued under Section 11 of the Electricity Act, 2003 for its Mundra Thermal Plant.

The directions, which were earlier set to remain in force until September 30, 2026, have now been extended up to December 31, 2026.

Tata Power disclosed the development through a regulatory filing under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

Extension Follows Earlier Government Direction

According to Tata Power, the company received a communication from the Ministry of Power confirming the latest extension.

The announcement follows the company’s earlier disclosure dated June 23, 2026, concerning the continuation of the Section 11 directions applicable to the Mundra Thermal Plant.

The latest extension means that the directions will continue to apply for an additional three months beyond their earlier validity period.

What Does Section 11 of the Electricity Act Provide?

Section 11 of the Electricity Act, 2003 empowers the appropriate government, under specified circumstances, to direct a generating company to operate and maintain a generating station in accordance with government directions.

Such directions are issued in situations covered by the provisions of the Act and can specify the manner in which a generating station is required to operate.

In Tata Power’s case, the latest Ministry of Power communication extends the existing directions concerning its Mundra Thermal Power Plant until the end of December 2026.
