Raipur, Chhattisgarh: Renowned Hindu spiritual preacher Devkinandan Thakur addressed a wide range of social, religious, and national issues during the “Hamar Pahuna” program organized at the Raipur Press Club. During the interaction, he spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the alleged Ram Temple theft case, the need for a Sanatan Board, religious conversions, youth empowerment, cow protection, government healthcare, and the role of storytellers, journalists, and artists in shaping society.
‘PM Modi’s Silence May Indicate a Bigger Decision’
Responding to a question regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence over the alleged theft at the Ram Temple, Thakur clarified that he was expressing his personal opinion.
“If Prime Minister Modi is silent, I believe he may be preparing to take a significant step. That is my personal view,” Thakur said.
His remarks have sparked discussion over what such silence could signify, although he did not provide any evidence or details regarding a possible government action.
Storytellers, Journalists, and Artists Shape Society
Thakur emphasized that three sections of society play the most influential role in guiding the nation—storytellers (Kathavachaks), artists, and journalists.
Referring to the philosophy of “Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram,” he said journalists should write the truth, storytellers should speak the truth, and artists should present what is truthful and beneficial for society. According to him, if these three groups fulfill their responsibilities honestly, they can help secure a better future for the country’s youth and society.
‘People Are Protecting Systems Instead of Truth’
Expressing concern over the current social environment, Thakur said many people today are more focused on protecting their own interests and existing systems than on speaking, writing, or presenting the truth.
He argued that this shift has contributed to social decline and has left many young people moving in the wrong direction. He stressed that meaningful social progress is only possible when influential voices stand firmly for the truth.
Calls for Youth to Study the Bhagavad Gita
Highlighting the importance of Indian culture and spiritual education, Thakur said children should be introduced to religious scriptures from an early age.
He stated that the day India’s youth begin reading the Bhagavad Gita, Sanatan Dharma will once again become stronger and more vibrant.
Demands Formation of a Sanatan Board
Thakur renewed his demand for the creation of a Sanatan Board to oversee the management of Hindu temples.
According to him, temple resources and assets should be utilized for the development of Gurukuls, cow shelters (Gaushalas), and religious education. He said better management of temples would help preserve cultural values for future generations.
Seeks Equal Government Support for Gurukuls
The spiritual leader also claimed that while governments provide financial assistance to Madrasas, Gurukuls and temples do not receive comparable support.
He argued that institutions preserving Indian culture and traditional religious education should receive equal recognition and financial assistance from the government.
Expresses Views on Religious Conversions
Speaking on religious conversions, Thakur said that a true religion does not seek to increase its numbers through conversion.
He claimed that Hindu society has never actively sought to convert others, while alleging that conversion efforts are carried out through other means. Referring to the Bhagavad Gita, he described Sanatan Dharma as a guiding path for humanity.
Raises Concern Over Cow Protection
Thakur also voiced concern over the condition of stray cows, saying it remains troubling to see cows wandering on roads across the country.
He urged both society and government authorities to establish a long-term and effective system for cow protection.
Calls for Better Public Healthcare
Addressing healthcare, Thakur said economically weaker citizens often cannot afford treatment at private hospitals.
He emphasized the need to strengthen government healthcare facilities so that poor families can access affordable and quality medical care without financial hardship.
Message Against Substance Abuse
Concluding his remarks, Thakur encouraged people, especially young individuals, to stay away from alcohol and other intoxicants.
He said Sanatan Dharma teaches individuals to live truthfully, avoid addiction, and follow a disciplined moral life. According to him, a person who remains committed to truth, honesty, and ethical conduct is the one who truly lives a religious life.
