CMPDI Director (Technical) Nripendra Nath takes additional responsibility at SECL, bringing extensive experience in mining operations, project planning and mine safety
Bilaspur: Nripendra Nath has assumed the additional charge of Director (Technical) – Projects & Planning at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL).
Nath is currently serving as Director (Technical) at Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited (CMPDI). The SECL family extended a warm welcome to him and conveyed its best wishes on taking up the additional responsibility.
Following his assumption of charge, Nath paid a courtesy visit to Ramesh Chandra Mahapatra, Director (Technical – Operations), SECL.
About Nripendra Nath
Nripendra Nath graduated from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, in 1988 and began his professional career with the N.K. Area of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL).
During the early part of his career, he made significant contributions to the World Bank-assisted KDH Project, where he worked for nearly two decades.
Over the course of his distinguished career, Nath has held several important positions across Coal India subsidiaries. He served as Project Officer at various mines of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) and later as Regional General Manager of the Magadh-Sanghamitra Area of CCL.
Under his tenure, the Magadh-Sanghamitra Area achieved the distinction of entering the 20-million-tonne production club, marking a significant milestone in its operational performance.
Expertise in Mine Safety and Training
Nath has also contributed significantly to mine safety across Coal India. He is an Australia-trained and SIMTARS-certified trainer and has been involved in imparting mine safety training across various subsidiaries of Coal India Limited.
He has also played an important role in the formulation and implementation of Mine Safety Management Plans, strengthening safety practices across mining operations.
International Exposure in Mining
Nath brings international exposure to his new responsibility as well. In 2024, he was part of the AGTMP delegation that visited several European countries.
The visit provided him with an opportunity to gain exposure to international mining practices, advanced technologies and modern approaches to mining operations.
Current Role at CMPDI
Nath has been serving as Director (Technical) at CMPDI since October 31, 2025.
With extensive experience spanning mining operations, project implementation, planning and mine safety, Nath brings a combination of technical expertise and managerial experience to his additional responsibility at SECL.
His appointment is expected to further strengthen SECL’s focus on project planning, implementation and operational development.
