Entrance Examination Used for Selection

Providing details about the programme, Shri B.B. Patra, Head (Human Resources), NTPC Sipat, said that the initiative was developed following a suggestion from the Collector, Bilaspur.

As part of the selection process, an entrance examination was conducted for students who had completed Classes X and XI from nearby government schools.

Based on their performance in the examination, 50 students each from Classes XI and XII were selected for the coaching programme.

This brought the total number of students admitted to Sankalp to 100.

Faculty Briefs Students on Coaching Plan

The faculty appointed for the programme also attended the inauguration ceremony.

The faculty members briefed the students about the:

  • Coaching curriculum
  • Class schedule
  • Subject-wise preparation
  • Academic requirements
  • Examination-oriented preparation
  • General guidelines for students

The programme will provide students with a structured academic environment where they can receive regular instruction, guidance and systematic preparation for competitive examinations.

Focus on Equal Educational Opportunities

The Sankalp initiative is particularly significant for students studying in government schools who may otherwise have limited access to specialised coaching for examinations such as JEE and NEET.

By providing coaching without cost, NTPC Sipat aims to create a platform where academic talent can be nurtured irrespective of students’ economic or geographical circumstances.

The initiative is expected to help students improve their conceptual understanding of core science subjects while developing the discipline and examination skills required for competitive tests.

A Step Towards Building Future Engineers and Doctors

With 100 students selected for the first phase, the Sankalp programme represents an effort to connect rural and government-school students with opportunities that can help them pursue higher education and professional careers.

The initiative also reflects NTPC Sipat’s focus on strengthening education and supporting the development of communities located around its operational area.

By combining regular classroom instruction with competitive-examination-oriented preparation, Sankalp seeks to provide students with a stronger foundation for their future academic and professional journeys.
