New Delhi : In a move aimed at improving fertilizer accessibility and strengthening the agricultural sector, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs and Bilaspur Member of Parliament, Tokhan Sahu, has urged the Government of India to establish National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) retail outlets and expand its authorized dealer network in Mungeli and Lormi of Chhattisgarh.
Addressing a formal letter to Union Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Health & Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, Sahu emphasized the urgent need to enhance the availability of quality fertilizers for farmers in these predominantly agriculture-based regions.
According to the letter, Mungeli and Lormi are home to a large farming community that relies heavily on timely access to fertilizers for crop cultivation. The absence of NFL retail outlets forces many farmers to depend on neighboring districts, resulting in additional transportation costs, delays, and logistical challenges.
Sahu requested the Union Minister to issue necessary directions to the concerned authorities for the early establishment of NFL retail outlets and authorized dealerships in both locations. He noted that the initiative would ensure farmers receive high-quality fertilizers at reasonable prices within their own districts while enabling better implementation of the Government of India’s farmer welfare schemes.
The proposal is expected to significantly benefit local farmers by reducing input costs, improving the timely availability of fertilizers, and increasing agricultural productivity. Better access to essential farm inputs would also help farmers improve crop yields and support the long-term development of the region’s agricultural economy.
Expressing confidence in the initiative, Tokhan Sahu stated that the expansion of National Fertilizers Limited’s distribution network would not only strengthen the rural agricultural infrastructure but also contribute to higher farm incomes, sustainable agricultural growth, and the government’s broader vision of empowering Indian farmers through improved access to critical agricultural resources.
