RAIPUR, May 31: A large gathering of public representatives, community leaders, and citizens came together in Raipur on Sunday to pay tribute to Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, one of India’s most revered rulers, remembered for her justice, public service, administrative excellence, and deep spiritual devotion.
The commemorative event was held at the Ahilyabai Holkar statue site located near Lotus Hospital on Rajatalab Canal Linking Road. The ceremony reflected a spirit of reverence, cultural pride, and social unity as attendees honored the enduring legacy of the legendary queen.
The floral tribute program was organized by the Culture Department of the Raipur Municipal Corporation, with support from Zone-4 of the Municipal Corporation. Among the dignitaries present were Raipur North MLA Purandar Mishra, Mayor Meenal Choubey, Municipal Corporation Chairman Suryakant Rathore, Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Sanjay Shrivastava, Leader of Opposition Akash Tiwari, Culture Department Chairman Amar Gidwani, and Ward Councilor Rajesh Gupta.
Several community representatives and civic leaders also attended the event, including Subba Rao Savarkar, President of the Varade Dhanakar Samaj Mandal, former councilor Akhilesh Kashyap, former councilor representative Sunil Choudhary, Zone Commissioner Dr. Divya Chandravanshi, and Assistant Engineer Deepak Devangan. The gathering also included social workers, senior citizens, women, youth, and children from across the city.
Participants offered floral tributes at the statue and reflected on Ahilyabai Holkarโs remarkable contributions to governance, public welfare, and social development. Speakers emphasized the importance of drawing inspiration from her values of compassion, integrity, service, and good governance, which continue to resonate in contemporary society.
