‘Dronacharya Sangam Teacher Felicitation Ceremony’ held at SECL DAV School Bilaspur; teachers from DAV schools across SECL operational areas honoured for their outstanding contribution
Bilaspur, September 6, 2026: Teachers play a vital role not only in imparting education but also in shaping the personality, character and future of students, said Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka while addressing the ‘Dronacharya Sangam Teacher Felicitation Ceremony’ held at SECL DAV School, Bilaspur.
Governor Ramen Deka attended the programme as the chief guest. The ceremony began with the garlanding of the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the second President of India and a renowned educationist. The Governor and other dignitaries paid tribute to his invaluable contribution to the field of education.
Teachers honoured for outstanding contribution
During the ceremony, teachers from all DAV schools operating under various operational areas of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) were honoured for their outstanding contribution, dedication and commitment to education.
The programme highlighted the important role played by teachers in nurturing students and strengthening the foundations of education and society.
‘There is no shortcut to success’
Addressing the students, Governor Ramen Deka said student life is one of the most important stages in a person’s life, and teachers play a significant role in developing students’ knowledge, personality and future.
He said there is no shortcut to success and that students must achieve their goals through continuous hard work, discipline and dedication.
The Governor also advised students to stay away from laziness and the habit of postponing tasks. He encouraged them to remain committed to learning throughout their lives and to always be willing to acquire new knowledge and skills.
‘Ask what you have done for society’
Governor Deka also urged students to understand their responsibilities towards society and the nation.
He said people should not constantly ask what society has done for them; instead, they should reflect on what they have contributed to society.
He called upon students to use their knowledge, abilities and talents for constructive and positive contributions to society and the nation.
Teachers shape students’ future
The Governor emphasised that the influence of a teacher extends far beyond the classroom. The lessons, values and knowledge imparted by teachers can have a lasting impact on a student’s entire life.
He said teachers therefore have an important responsibility not only to educate students academically but also to help develop responsible, disciplined and socially conscious citizens.
Senior officials and dignitaries attend the ceremony
The programme was attended by several senior officials and dignitaries, including Bilaspur Divisional Commissioner Sunil Jain, SECL Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das, Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain, SECL DAV Bilaspur Principal K. Parthipan, Regional Assistant Officer of DAV Bilaspur region Maulika Mukherjee, and SECL DAV Korba Principal Suchitra Sharma.
Collector Sanjay Agrawal, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh, and senior officials from SECL and the district administration were also present.
The ceremony concluded with recognition of the dedicated services of teachers and a strong emphasis on the importance of education, character-building and social responsibility among students.
