NEW DELHI: In a landmark development for India’s energy sector, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has officially commenced drilling its first deepwater exploratory well in the Mahanadi Offshore Basin, marking a major milestone in the country’s ambitious offshore exploration program.
The well, named MN-DW18-1-H-D, was virtually spudded on July 25, 2026, by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, from New Delhi.
