Chennai, India: Renowned Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu has appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay to establish a permanent memorial for the late legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja at his burial site in Theni district, honoring one of Indian cinema’s most influential directors.
Bharathiraja, affectionately known as “Iyakkunar Imayam” (The Pinnacle of Directors), passed away on June 10, 2026.
