Raipur, Chhattisgarh | — The Government of Chhattisgarh has carried out a major administrative reshuffle in the state’s police force by transferring 24 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. The transfer order, issued by the Home (Police) Department on Friday, includes the reassignment of an Inspector General (IG), several Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and Superintendents of Police (SPs) across 12 districts.
The large-scale reshuffle is aimed at strengthening law enforcement, improving administrative efficiency, and ensuring effective policing across the state.
Key Senior-Level Appointments
IPS Ajay Kumar Yadav, who was serving as the Director of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose State Police Academy, Chandkhuri, has been appointed as the new Inspector General (IG) of Rajnandgaon Range.
The outgoing IG of Rajnandgaon Range, IPS Balaji Rao Somawar, has been transferred to the Police Headquarters (PHQ), Nava Raipur, where he has been assigned a new responsibility.
Similarly, IPS Prashant Kumar Agrawal, who was serving as IG, Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF), Bastar, has also been transferred to the Police Headquarters.
New Superintendents of Police Appointed
The state government has appointed new Superintendents of Police (SPs) in several districts:
- IPS Chandra Mohan Singh – SP, Dantewada
- IPS Harish Rathore – SP, Korea
- IPS Bhavna Pandey – SP, Dhamtari
- IPS Rai Gaurav Rampravesh – SP, Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara
- IPS Umesh Prasad Gupta – SP, Bijapur
- IPS Mayank – SP, Sukma
- IPS Sandeep Kumar Patel – SP, Narayanpur
- IPS Chavan Kiran Gangaram – SP, Balod
- IPS Yogesh Kumar Patel – SP, Surajpur
- IPS Jitendra Kumar Yadav – SP, Kabirdham
- IPS Sunil Sharma – SP, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh
The reshuffle also includes changes in other key police positions, with several senior officers receiving new assignments at the Police Headquarters.
Objective of the Reshuffle
The state government periodically undertakes such administrative changes to enhance public safety, improve police administration, and optimize the deployment of experienced officers in critical positions. The latest transfers are expected to strengthen policing and improve the overall efficiency of law enforcement across Chhattisgarh.
The official transfer order from the Home (Police) Department takes effect immediately, with all transferred officers directed to assume charge of their new postings without delay.
