New Delhi : The Ministry of Railways has approved the extension of deputation tenure of Ms. Srishti Gupta, an officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), who is currently serving with National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) as Senior Associate Lead (Strategy).
According to an official order issued by the Railway Board, Ms. Gupta’s deputation has been extended for the fourth and fifth year, allowing her to continue in the strategic role until October 4, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The extension will remain effective under the existing terms and conditions already approved by the competent authority.
Ms. Gupta previously served as Deputy Chief Commercial Manager with Central Railway in Mumbai before joining NCRTC on deputation. During her tenure at NCRTC, she has been associated with strategic planning and policy-related functions linked to regional rapid transit and urban mobility projects.
Extension Approved by President of India
The Railway Board order stated that the extension of deputation has been approved by the President of India and vetted by the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways. The continuation of her tenure reflects ongoing institutional coordination between Indian Railways and NCRTC for strengthening strategic transport planning and execution capabilities.
The order clarified that all service conditions during the extended deputation period will remain unchanged and continue in accordance with previously approved guidelines.
Mandatory Repatriation Clause Highlighted
The Railway Board also reiterated standard deputation rules applicable to officers serving outside the Railways. According to the order, officers are required to return to their parent railway cadre immediately upon completion of the deputation period.
It further specified that if the officer fails to report back to the Railways within one month after completion of the deputation tenure, such absence may be treated as deemed resignation from railway service under applicable government rules.
Administrative Communication Issued
Copies of the order have been circulated to multiple departments and authorities for implementation and record purposes. These include officials of Central Railway, Northern Railway, NCRTC, audit authorities, and senior officers of the Railway Board.
The extension is seen as part of broader efforts to ensure continuity in leadership and strategic planning within NCRTC, which is currently overseeing several high-priority regional rapid transit corridor projects aimed at improving urban transportation connectivity in the National Capital Region.
