Bilaspur In the wake of a major jewellery showroom robbery in Bilaspur, city police and members of the jewellery trade held a high-level security review meeting aimed at strengthening coordination and preventing future crimes. The meeting was held at Chetna Hall in Bilasa Gudi under the chairmanship of Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh and was attended by jewellers from across the district.
The discussion followed the sensational robbery at Mahalaxmi Jewellers in the Rajkishore Nagar area and subsequent criminal activities reported from the Seepat region. Authorities termed the police response to the incident as historic, citing the arrest of an inter-state robbery gang within just 24 hours.
“Operation Gold” Team Felicitated
Prior to the meeting, the 11-member police team that cracked the case under “Operation Gold” was felicitated in a special ceremony. The team was honored with shawls and mementos under the leadership of State Sarafa Association President Kamal Soni.
Those present at the felicitation included Inspector General Ramgopal Garg, SSP Rajnesh Singh, Additional SP Pankaj Patel, and other senior officers. The operation also received crucial support from Uttar Pradesh Police, which was publicly acknowledged during the event.
Public Vigilance Is Key to Security: IG Garg
Addressing the gathering, IG Ramgopal Garg stated that police teams were activated immediately after receiving information about the robbery. He emphasized that swift assessment, coordinated strategy, and continuous field monitoring led to the gang’s arrest within 24 hours.
“Public cooperation is as important as police action. Citizens are an essential part of policing. Vigilance is the strongest form of security,” he said, urging people to report suspicious activity without delay.
Strict Security Norms for Jewellers
SSP Rajnesh Singh outlined detailed security guidelines for jewellery traders, stressing that recent incidents posed serious challenges but were successfully handled due to teamwork and preparedness.
He made it mandatory for jewellers to install high-quality CCTV systems, avoid frequent movement of gold and silver items, and ensure strong in-shop secure storage arrangements. He warned that compliance would be closely monitored.
