Chhattisgarh to Present 2026–27 Budget Focused on “Trust and Development”

Raipur, India: The Indian state of Chhattisgarh is set to present its annual budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year on Monday, with Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary describing it as a budget centered on “trust and development.”

The budget will be tabled in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly at 12:30 p.m. local time during the ongoing budget session. Assembly proceedings began earlier in the day with tributes and a question hour.

Ahead of the presentation, Choudhary shared a post on social media platform X, calling the upcoming budget “Vishwas aur Vikas” (Trust and Development). The post featured images of Narendra Modi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, along with the finance minister holding the traditional red budget briefcase.

Strong Growth Outlook Highlighted

On the opening day of the budget session, Choudhary presented the state’s Economic Survey, projecting a robust economic outlook for the coming year. According to the survey, Chhattisgarh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is expected to grow by 11.57% in 2025–26, reaching approximately ₹6.31 trillion (about $76 billion).

The finance minister attributed the projected growth to expanded infrastructure development, increased investment, and the implementation of state-led development initiatives.

Legislative Agenda

Monday marks the second day of the Chhattisgarh Assembly’s budget session. The House began proceedings by paying tribute to former undivided Madhya Pradesh legislator Deendayal Singh Porte, followed by legislative business.

The full details of spending priorities, welfare programs, and sectoral allocations in the 2026–27 budget are expected to be closely watched, particularly in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, social welfare, and industrial investment.
