NTPC Green Energy Commissions 165 MW Solar Capacity at Khavda Project, Total Group Capacity Nears 9 GW


New Delhi, February 20, 2026 — NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has announced the commercial commissioning of an additional 165 megawatts (MW) of solar power capacity at its Khavda-II Solar PV Project in the western Indian state of Gujarat.

According to a regulatory filing made on Thursday, the newly commissioned capacity represents the second phase of the 1,200 MW Khavda-II project and became operational at 00:00 hours on February 20, 2026. The project is being executed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited.

Capacity Expansion Strengthens Renewable Portfolio

Before the latest addition, NTPC Green Energy’s group-level commercial renewable capacity stood at 8,827.68 MW. With the commissioning of the 165 MW tranche, the company’s total installed commercial capacity has increased to 8,992.68 MW, bringing the group closer to the 9-gigawatt milestone.

The Khavda solar project is among the largest solar power developments in the region, and its phased commissioning reflects NTPC Green Energy’s systematic approach to scaling up clean energy infrastructure.

Regulatory Disclosure and Market Communication

The company disclosed the development under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The intimation was submitted to both the National Stock Exchange of India, where the company trades under the symbol NTPCGREEN, and BSE Limited under scrip code 544289.

The latest commissioning underscores NTPC Green Energy’s expanding role in India’s renewable energy transition. As the Khavda-II project continues to come online in stages, it is expected to make a significant contribution to the country’s long-term clean power targets and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
