SECL Holds Consumer Meet at Headquarters, Emphasizes Coal Quality


Bilaspur : South Eastern Coalfields Limited (South Eastern Coalfields Limited) organized a Consumer Meet at its headquarters in Bilaspur on Monday with the objective of strengthening coordination and communication with coal consumers, with a special focus on quality assurance.

The meeting was chaired by SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan. Director (Technical Operations) N. Franklin Jayakumar and Director (Technical – Projects & Planning) Ramesh Chandra Mahapatra were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, CMD Harish Duhan stated that SECL is now working firmly on the principle of “Quality First.” He emphasized that the company’s goal is not merely to increase coal production, but to ensure the supply of high-quality, reliable, and timely coal to its consumers.

Duhan encouraged consumers to openly share their suggestions and assured them that all feedback would be examined seriously, followed by necessary corrective measures. He reiterated SECL’s commitment to consumer satisfaction through strict quality control, transparency, technological upgradation, and improved coordination, ensuring dependable fulfillment of the energy requirements of industries.

Speaking on the occasion, Director (Technical Operations) N. Franklin Jayakumar highlighted the mantra “Production with Purity, Dispatch with Quality,” stating that maintaining quality at every stage—from production to dispatch—remains the company’s top priority. He added that consumer satisfaction is the true measure of SECL’s success.

At the beginning of the meeting, General Manager (Mining/Sales) Ajit Chaudhary delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining the company’s operational framework, production systems, quality management practices, and ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing consumer services.

During the interactive session, consumers raised queries and offered suggestions on issues such as refund of coal value, bank guarantees, supply of quality coal, and other operational matters. CMD Harish Duhan remained present throughout the meeting, addressed all concerns in detail, and assured prompt resolution of issues.

Senior officials including General Manager (Quality) Sanjeev Nigam, General Manager (Finance) Ronti Basu, and other senior officers of the company were also present at the event.
