Shahid Kapoor’s “O’Romeo” Storms the Box Office, Leaves “Tu Ya Main” Far Behind on Opening Day

Hyderabad: Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor has once again proven his box-office pull as his latest release O’Romeo opened to impressive numbers on its very first day. The film, which also stars Triptii Dimri, hit theaters on February 13, coinciding with Valentine’s Week, and received a strong response from audiences.

According to early box-office estimates, O’Romeo collected approximately ₹8.25 crore on Day 1. Trade analysts report that the film benefited from positive word of mouth and solid advance bookings. Shahid Kapoor’s intense portrayal of the character Hussain Ustra has particularly surprised fans and critics alike.

On the same day, another film, Tu Ya Main, also made its theatrical debut. The romantic thriller stars Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav. However, the film struggled to gain traction amid the buzz surrounding O’Romeo. As per industry tracking websites, Tu Ya Main managed to earn only around ₹0.55 crore on its opening day.

Occupancy figures further highlight the contrast. O’Romeo recorded an overall occupancy rate of nearly 15 percent, with night shows performing especially well, while Tu Ya Main saw limited footfall across most shows.

With this opening, O’Romeo has surpassed the Day 1 collections of several previous Shahid Kapoor films, reinforcing his status as a bankable star. Meanwhile, Tu Ya Main faces an uphill battle at the box office in the coming days.

Trade experts believe that unless there is a sharp turnaround, Shahid Kapoor’s film is set to dominate the Valentine’s Week box-office race.
