New Delhi: India has said that it has prepared a “foolproof plan” to evacuate its citizens from Iran if the security situation worsens, as anti-government protests intensify across the country. The Indian government has clarified that it is closely monitoring developments and is in constant touch with Indian nationals living in Iran.
Iran has been witnessing widespread demonstrations against the government, with reports of growing public anger and clashes between protesters and security forces. The situation has drawn international attention, particularly from the United States. US President Donald Trump has warned Iran against using force on peaceful demonstrators, stating that America would support the protesters if they are fired upon.
Against this backdrop, India has adopted a cautious but prepared approach. Official sources said that contingency plans are already in place to ensure the safe evacuation of Indian citizens if required. These plans include coordination with Indian missions in the region, identification of safe routes, and readiness of transport facilities.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised Indian nationals in Iran to remain vigilant, avoid areas of protest, and stay in regular contact with the Indian Embassy. India has emphasized that the safety and security of its citizens abroad remains its top priority.
While there is no immediate evacuation order, the government’s statement reflects concern over the rapidly evolving situation in Iran. India has traditionally maintained diplomatic ties with Tehran and continues to assess the ground situation before taking any major step.
For now, Indian authorities say they are prepared for all scenarios and will act swiftly if circumstances demand.
