False Robbery Case Exposed — Complainant Turns Out to Be the Accused

Kumhari Police, A shocking case has surfaced in Kumhari police station where a reported robbery turned out to be completely fabricated. The complainant himself was found to be the mastermind behind the fake robbery claim involving ₹14,60,000.

On 7 December 2025, Ashish Rathore, a resident of Charoda, filed an application at Kumhari police station alleging that he works as a franchise operator for Hitachi ATM cash loading services. According to his report, on 6 December 2025, he was travelling from Tenduab to Murmunda Dadar on his motorcycle with ₹14,60,000 cash inside a bag to load into ATMs. He claimed that near Kapsada, three unidentified men threatened him with a knife and robbed the cash bag before fleeing.

Based on his complaint, Crime No. 239/25 under Section 309(4) BNS was registered at Kumhari police station and investigation was launched.

Given the gravity of the matter, a police team immediately reached the alleged crime scene and conducted inspection. However, upon questioning locals and reviewing nearby circumstances, no evidence of the robbery was found, which raised doubts about the report. The police then interrogated complainant Ashish Rathore more thoroughly.

During interrogation, Rathore confessed to staging the fake robbery. He revealed that he operates multiple Hitachi ATM franchises. Out of these, 4 are self-funded ATMs and later he took 8 more company-funded franchises. Due to increasing expenses — including home and car loan installments, ATM rent, and maintenance — his income had decreased. Since the cash required for daily ATM loading was becoming insufficient, ATM transactions had dropped which reduced his commission earnings.

Rathore further admitted that he came to know that in case of reported cash theft, insurance claims are processed easily, causing no loss to the company. Therefore, he devised a plan to file a fake report of robbery for an insurance claim.

Before filing the complaint, he secretly deposited ₹14,60,000 extra into his three self-funded ATMs and falsely reported that the same amount had been looted from him near Golden Global School, Kapsada.

Following the confession, the police arrested accused Ashish Rathore (age 34), resident of Charoda, Old Bhilai.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
