Mungeli Collector Conducts Surprise Inspection of District Hospital, Directs Better and Timely Healthcare Services

Mungeli : Mungeli Collector Amrit Vikas Topno conducted a surprise inspection of the District Hospital in Mungeli on Saturday and reviewed healthcare facilities, attendance of doctors and staff, cleanliness, medicine distribution, diagnostic services and arrangements for patients.

The Collector said that the District Hospital is one of the district’s most important healthcare institutions, where a large number of patients from both rural and urban areas visit every day. Ensuring better, quality and timely healthcare services for every patient must therefore remain the primary responsibility of all doctors, officers and employees.

The district administration’s official website currently lists Amrit Vikas Topno as the Collector and District Magistrate of Mungeli.

Collector Checks OPD and Doctors’ Attendance

During the inspection, Collector Topno visited the Outpatient Department (OPD) and inspected doctors’ chambers. He also reviewed the attendance of doctors and sought information regarding the availability of medical personnel.

He instructed hospital authorities to ensure that all doctors, officers and employees remain present at their designated workplaces during duty hours and that patient services are not disrupted because of staff shortages or absenteeism.

Review of CT Scan, X-Ray, ICU, Dialysis and Other Facilities

The Collector inspected several key facilities at the District Hospital, including:

He further directed that medicines prescribed by doctors should be made available to patients easily and on time.

Cleanliness Given Special Attention

The Collector also inspected cleanliness arrangements across the hospital premises.

He visited wards, rooms, corridors and surrounding areas and directed officials to ensure regular and effective cleaning.

He said that maintaining a clean and hygienic hospital environment is extremely important for the health and safety of patients as well as hospital staff.

Inspection of 100-Bed Mother and Child Hospital

Following the inspection of the District Hospital, Collector Topno also visited the 100-bed Mother and Child Hospital.

He reviewed arrangements at the:

  • Labour Room
  • Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU)
  • Paediatric Ward
  • Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC)
  • Operation Theatre

The Collector interacted with doctors and officials and sought information about maternal and child healthcare services being provided at the facility.

He emphasized that healthcare services are directly connected with the lives and well-being of people and therefore require a high level of responsibility, sensitivity and accountability from every employee.

Strict Monitoring of Staff Attendance

Collector Topno directed the concerned officials to regularly monitor the attendance of hospital employees.

He made it clear that all officers and employees must report for duty on time and perform their responsibilities properly. In cases where negligence or dereliction of duty is found, officials were instructed to initiate appropriate action.

Boundary Wall, Seepage and Infrastructure Issues

The Collector also issued directions regarding the construction of a boundary wall around the hospital premises to strengthen security and ensure better management of the campus.

He directed officials to address infrastructure-related problems, including seepage in buildings and rooms, without unnecessary delay.

According to the Collector, timely maintenance of hospital infrastructure is essential to ensure a safe and functional environment for patients and staff.

Parking Arrangement and Security Issues

Collector Topno also reviewed the parking arrangements inside the hospital campus and directed officials to organize parking properly to prevent inconvenience and congestion.

He expressed displeasure over cows entering the hospital premises and instructed officials to issue a notice to the concerned security guard.

He further directed the hospital administration to maintain close supervision over security and overall arrangements on the campus.

The surprise inspection reflects the administration’s emphasis on improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare services at government hospitals.

The Collector stressed that patients should receive treatment, diagnostic services and medicines without unnecessary delays or inconvenience. He also encouraged hospital officials and employees to work collectively towards improving the functioning of the District Hospital.
