Raipur, Chhattisgarh |In a major breakthrough, Raipur Rural Police and a special team from Jehanabad Police, Bihar, have arrested a ₹25,000 reward-winning fugitive who had been evading law enforcement for years by living under a false identity and working at a private steel manufacturing company in Raipur’s industrial area.
The accused, identified as Ajay Yadav, was wanted in connection with a 2019 criminal case registered at the Women’s Police Station in Jehanabad, Bihar. He faces multiple serious charges, including gang rape, attempted murder, robbery, assault, and violations of the Arms Act.
According to police officials, Yadav had been on the run since the case was registered and continuously changed locations to avoid arrest. Due to his prolonged absconding status, the Inspector General of Police (IG), Magadh Range, had announced a cash reward of ₹25,000 for information leading to his capture.
Intelligence-Based Operation Leads to Arrest
The arrest was made following an extensive technical surveillance operation and intelligence gathering by Bihar Police. Investigators recently received information indicating that the suspect was hiding in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh.
A special police team from Jehanabad traveled to Raipur and coordinated with officers from Siltara Police Outpost. Under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Rajendra Singh Kanwar, a joint task force was formed to track and apprehend the accused.
During the investigation, police discovered that Yadav had secured employment at a private steel company in the Siltara Industrial Area and had been successfully concealing his real identity for several years.
Following a carefully planned surveillance and containment strategy, the joint police team surrounded the area and arrested the accused without incident.
After completing the necessary legal formalities, the accused was handed over to the Bihar Police, where he will be presented before the appropriate court for further judicial proceedings.
Police Verification Lapses Exposed
The operation also uncovered a significant security concern. Investigators found that the private company employing the accused had allegedly failed to conduct the mandatory police verification of its employees.
Police officials described the lapse as a serious violation of security protocols and stated that notices are being prepared against the company’s management. Authorities have indicated that legal action may be initiated under applicable regulations.

Following the arrest, Raipur Rural Police issued a strong warning to industries, factories, and commercial establishments across the region, emphasizing that employee police verification is mandatory.
