Two-Day Awareness Programme in Bastar Promotes Drug-Free Society and Better Nutrition

Exhibition, cultural performances and awareness activities held under ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ and ‘National Nutrition Month’

Bastar : A two-day public awareness programme focused on building a drug-free society and promoting better nutrition concluded at Sadbhavana Bhawan in Bastar on Thursday.

The programme was organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Raipur, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, under the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat–Sankalp Abhiyan’ and ‘National Nutrition Month’.

The initiative aimed to spread awareness among students, young people, women and the general public about the harmful effects of substance abuse, healthy lifestyles, balanced diets and the importance of proper nutrition.

Students and youth participated enthusiastically in various activities organised on the second day of the programme.

Meditation Session Highlights Importance of Self-Control

Manjusha Behen Ji from the Brahma Kumaris Centre conducted a special session on the role of meditation, self-control and positive thinking in preventing substance abuse.

She said that controlling one’s thoughts and emotions can help people stay away from negative habits. She encouraged young people to channel their energy into constructive activities and make a conscious effort to stay away from drugs and other addictive substances.

A meditation session was also organised for students as part of the programme.

‘Fight Against Addiction Must Begin With the Individual’

Chandrabhan Mishra, Principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bastar, said eliminating substance abuse is a collective moral responsibility.

He stressed that the fight against addiction should begin with individuals, followed by awareness within families and communities, ultimately contributing to efforts to make the nation drug-free.

Mishra urged young people to stay away from intoxicating substances and adopt a healthy, responsible and positive lifestyle.

Students Use Theatre and Competitions to Spread Awareness

Students from schools and colleges presented a special street-style drama highlighting the harmful consequences of substance abuse and the benefits of living a drug-free life.

To encourage greater participation among young people, the programme also featured song, essay and speech competitions.

Students presented their views on topics including a drug-free society, healthy living, nutrition and the role of young people in nation-building.

Awareness Exhibition Draws Students, Women and Local Residents

The photo exhibition organised as part of the programme continued to attract students, youth, women and members of the public on the second day.

The exhibition used photographs and informative messages to highlight the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse, the benefits of a drug-free lifestyle, balanced nutrition, cleanliness and healthy living.

The exhibition provided visitors with accessible information on the importance of making healthier choices and maintaining a responsible lifestyle.

Nutrition Awareness Under National Nutrition Month

As part of National Nutrition Month, participants were informed about the importance of balanced and nutritious food, personal hygiene and healthy lifestyle practices.

Nutrition-focused activities at the venue encouraged women and members of the public to include nutritious foods in their daily diets and pay greater attention to health and well-being.

Call to Youth to Contribute to Nation-Building

Over the two days, the programme used a combination of photo exhibitions, anti-drug pledges, cultural performances, meditation sessions and competitions to communicate the message of drug prevention and better nutrition.

Students, young people, women, Anganwadi workers and local residents actively participated in the programme.

At the conclusion of the event, young people were encouraged to stay away from drugs and contribute to nation-building through education, sports, creative activities and community service.
