Spanish Train Collision: EAM Jaishankar Expresses Grief Over Tragic Accident

New Delhi: India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over a tragic train collision in Spain that claimed several lives and left many injured.

According to a rail operator, an evening passenger train travelling from Malaga to Madrid derailed near the city of Cordoba and collided with another train coming from Madrid to Huelva. The impact of the crash caused significant damage to both trains, triggering an emergency response from local authorities.

Rescue teams rushed to the site to assist passengers, while medical services were deployed to provide immediate treatment to the injured. Spanish officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the derailment and subsequent collision.

Expressing solidarity with the Spanish government and people, Jaishankar conveyed condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. “Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones during this difficult time,” he said in a message.

The incident has raised concerns about rail safety, with authorities assuring strict action once the investigation is completed.
