SJVN Limited Hosts Parliamentary Panel During Himachal Study Visit, Highlights Energy Transition Strategy


Shimla/Dharamshala : SJVN Limited hosted India’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) during its official study visit to Shimla and Dharamshala from April 25 to 27, 2026, marking a significant engagement between policymakers and the public sector energy enterprise.

The visiting delegation, led by PAC Chairperson K. C. Venugopal, included Members of Parliament from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The visit was aimed at gaining firsthand insights into the operations, financial management, and long-term strategy of key public sector undertakings.

On behalf of SJVN, Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta, along with Director (Finance) Parthajit De, formally welcomed the committee and led a series of presentations and discussions.

During the interaction, Gupta provided a comprehensive overview of SJVN’s diversified portfolio, which spans hydroelectric power, solar, wind, and thermal energy projects across India and abroad. He highlighted the company’s operational performance, financial health, and ongoing expansion plans, emphasizing its growing role in supporting India’s clean energy ambitions.

A key focus of the discussions was SJVN’s strategic roadmap aligned with India’s broader energy transition goals, including increased investment in renewable energy, reduction of carbon intensity, and adoption of sustainable technologies. The engagement also offered the PAC an opportunity to review how effectively public funds are being utilized in large-scale infrastructure and energy projects.

The committee members and SJVN leadership exchanged views on policy frameworks, regulatory challenges, and the evolving energy landscape in India. The dialogue underscored the importance of coordinated efforts between government bodies and public sector enterprises to ensure a reliable, affordable, and sustainable power supply.
